Hi, I'm Katie!

(and that’s Polly struggling to get away from me)

When I was a kid, I vividly and fondly remember pretending to run a newspaper. I loved writing articles and sending them for edit, then print. I had a whole system set up with baskets for filing, and routing to each “department”… and I played each role. I was so proud of my little paper. My favorite part was the comic.

As an adult, I have often dreamed of working for a magazine. I’m not 100% sure what appeals to me about it, but the idea of having an article printed in a magazine is bucket list material for me.

I have spent the last 14 years working in marketing. I have contributed on both the creative and operational sides in various industries. Four years ago, I started a consulting business helping small business owners market their services. This past year, I realized that was no longer for me. I didn’t want to stop contributing completely, but I wanted more freedom to create content for my other interests, as well.

As a consultant, I helped female business owners develop marketing strategies and business systems, push through productivity blocks, and become more aligned with their soul projects.

And while I still want to help those women, I am no longer offering consulting programs.

Instead, I’m sharing my expertise in marketing and project management here, along with articles about some of my favorite things… because life isn’t all about business and making money, ya know?

What to know more about me?

— I have a recipe blog called Needs More Cheese. I don’t update it too often, but it combines some of my favorite things: cooking, writing, photography, and graphic design. (I created the mascot, her name is Brie!)

— I love road trips. I prefer to drive over flying whenever possible. I have actually changed entire vacation destinations because I decided I wanted to go somewhere within driving distance instead.

— I have been known to waste quite a bit of time studying maps. It’s not a good idea to argue with me about directions.

— I spend most of my free time with my husband and two dogs. I call my dogs “the idiots”… it’s a term of endearment, but they’re also kind of idiots.

When I’m not passionately (and sometimes feverishly) writing/creating, I can be found on my huge sectional couch with a glass of wine, streaming teen dramas (unless Jay is joining, then it’s a horror flick or something about sasquatch).
